Understanding Ovulation
Ovulation is a miraculous event, where the other 3 phases of your cycle are working towards this moment to release an egg so that fertilisation may occur. However, regular ovulation is not just associated with pregnancy, but is a sign of optimal health 🌷
Firstly, I wanted to address the myth that ovulation should occur on day 14. If you were to take away one piece of information, it would be that the timing of your ovulation is susceptible to change each cycle. Some women may find they ovulate at the same time each month, but it is very common for this day to shift and change depending on your lifestyle and stress factors.
Only about 10% of women actually ovulate on day 14 of their cycle.
Approximately 50% of couples are referred on to infertility support when in actual fact they have just got their timing for conception wrong!
Once the egg is released, it only lives for 12-24 hours before being reabsorbed by the body.
You can track and confirm ovulation by observing the changes in your cervical fluid and basal body temperature. This falls under the Fertility Awareness Method.
Knowing what happens in your body when your fertile is extremely empowering. It gives you freedom from hormonal birth control and then the confidence and hope if you choose to conceive 🌱
This is an invitation to begin paying attention to the changing sensations during your ovulatory phase, to see how your body responds to ovulation.
